OMAN – best kept secret in Arab Gulf
Tuesday December 8th, 2015Oman – this is the country where its residents do not pay taxes, a litre of petrol cost 30 cents and a litre of water cost 35 cents, where health and education is free, temperature reaches 50 °C (122.0 °F) in hot season, ccoffee is spiced and men are allowed to have up to 4 wives. I have been lucky enough to visit Oman in April this year ,when the temperature is tolerable (hot season is between May and September), experience Omani hospitality and discover the beauty of the country’s landscape. My first impression, after arriving to Muscat, was how clean and well – arranged this city is. Then, while travelling around Oman, we saw the magnificent mountains ranging along north and southwest coast of the country which make the views spectacular and different at each time of the day, depending on sunlight. The beautiful coastline with stunning castles and fortifications as well as small fishing villages are not to be missed. Oman is one of the best kept secret among Arab Gulf countries and to spend quality time and visit most of Omani places of interests you will need around 7 to 10 days driving each day to another place.
… and not to forget to mention: the roads in Oman are of exceptional quality, driving was a pleasure. However be prepared, Oman is an expensive country and everything else except petrol is a little pricy.
